Marie Mergleri kuraatorituur näitusel „Soo“ / Marie Mergler’s curator tour at the exhibition „Mire“

Tartu Ülikooli botaanikaaias avatakse 4. septembril kell 17 Kristina Popovi näitus „Soo“. Soodele keskenduv näitus on avatud kuni 21. novembrini.

Näitus „Soo“ on pühendatud soode ökosüsteemile ja nende tähtsusele suurimate looduslike süsinikdioksiidi sidujatena. Ekspositsiooni keskmes on turbasamblad (ld Sphagnum), mis moodustavad rabades ja siirdesoodes tiheda pinnakatte ning on turba peamine koostisosa. Eestis on avastatud 40 turbasambla liiki, sh 12 haruldast liiki, millest kahte pole otsingutest hoolimata viimase 20 aasta jooksul leitud.

6. septembril kell 13 toimuval näituse kuraatori Marie Mergleri juhitud kuraatorituuril pakutakse huvilistele sügavamat sissevaadet üksikteostesse ja kutsutakse pidama dialoogi. Tuuril osalemine tasuta ja eelregistreerimiseta.

The exhibition Mire by Kristina Popov opens at the University of Tartu Botanical Garden on 4 September at 5 p.m. The exhibition, focusing on mires, will be on view until 21 November.

Mire is dedicated to the ecosystem of mires and their importance as the largest natural carbon sinks. At the heart of the exhibition are peat mosses (Sphagnum), which form a dense ground cover in bogs and fens and are the main component of peat. In Estonia, 40 species of peat moss have been recorded, including 12 rare species, two of which have not been found in the past 20 years despite extensive searches.

On 6 September at 1 p.m., a curator’s tour led by Marie Mergler will offer visitors a deeper insight into individual works and invite them to engage in dialogue. Participation in the tour is free and does not require prior registration.
